Modern day explorers tracing the trail of Lewis & Clark and Indian Guide, Sacajawea, will better visualize an authentic picture of western heritage through the antique doors of the Sacajawea Hotel situated in the town of Three Forks. Two wings of the hotel, originally built in 1882 near the confluence of the Jefferson, Madison and the Gallatin Rivers, were rolled on logs to higher ground from the first location of Three Forks, known as "Old Town." In 1910 the main building was added on to complete the hotel for Milwaukee Railroad passengers traveling through Three Forks on their way to Yellowstone National Park. The 1992 renovation of this three story structure reassociates a genuine "Old West" aura with contemporary facilities to provide a truly historical retreat for hotel guests.
